love it, love it, love it.
I was looking back in your archives. I stayed at the colombe d’or with my family to celebrate my 50th birthday. Eating on the terrace was….and remains my idea of heaven. We bought a book of photos of famous guests who had stayed there. There is a fantastic photo of Sartre and Simone de Beauvoir eating breakfast. They are ignoring each other like an old married couple…..and reading the newspaper. Sartre is reading the sports pages. Even existentialists like football….in fact Camus played as goalkeeper for the Algerian national team and Jacque Derrida was going to be a professional player if he hadn’t become the founder of deconstructionism.!! Look forward to seeing you in a couple of weeks in LA. xx
Hiya Freddie. I was looking through your archive. I went to stay at the colombe d’or with my family to celebrate my 50th birthday. It remains my idea of heaven. We bought a book of photos of famous guests who had stayed there. There is a fantastic one of jean Paul Sartre and Simone de Beauvoir having breakfast on the terrace and ignoring each other like an old married couple. They are reading the newspaper and Sartre is reading …….the sports page. See even existentialists like football. In fact, did you know that Albert Camus played as goalkeeper for the Algerian national team and Jacque Derrida wanted to become a professional footballer before creating the deconstructionist movement !!!! Look forward to seeing you in LA in a couple of weeks.
